Membership

Are you interested in becoming a member? Visitors interested in joining are welcome from 7:30PM to 10:00PM any Tuesday evening (except the first Tuesday of the month). The N scale group also meets every Thursday evening (same times), and Sunday mornings, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

What does it mean to be a member? We have a number of different types of members. What follows is an abridged version of the relevant sections in our Club bylaws.

Probationary Member

A probationary member is actually a temporary type of member; members are in fact on probation before becoming a Regular Member, or an Associate Member. Probationary Members:

  • shall be 18 years of age or older.
  • shall be allowed a four visit “get acquainted” period before submitting an application.
  • shall submit an application and a non-refundable initiation fee of $40. This commences a 6 month probation period. During this period, the Probationary Member pays regular monthly dues and should be involved with all discussions and activities in the Club. If on probation for a Regular Membership, then Regular Membership dues are to be paid; if on probation for an Associate Membership, then Associate Membership dues are to be paid.
  • does not have a vote in Club business
  • does not have a key
  • should be accompanied by a Regular Member.

After the probationary period, the Club members vote to determine if the Probationary Member should be accepted as a Regular or Associate Member (as appropriate).

Regular Member
A Regular Member has passed his probationary period, and has been accepted by a vote of the Club members. A Regular Member:

  • shall be 18 years of age or older.
  • has one vote on any item of business.
  • is reasonably expected to take part in all discussions, activities and responsibilities of the Club.
  • is entitled to a key of the Club, and may partake of the Club at any time.
  • pays monthly dues of $60.

Associate Member
An Associate Member has passed his probationary period, and has been accepted by a vote of the Club members. An Associate Member

  • shall be 18 years of age or older.
  • does not have a vote on Club business.
  • is not obligated to take part in any Club discussions or activities.
  • does not have a key to the Club.
  • is entitled to attend only one Tuesday night meeting per month.
  • is entitled to attend any Club Open House without fee, and may be requested to assist at said Open House.
  • pays annual dues of $180.
